Hello, Perfectionist!
What's on your agenda today?
Pushing a new personal record on your morning run? 🏃♀️
Achieving your weekly goal at work - oh sorry, I meant: OVERachieving your weekly target of course! 🎯
Oh wait? You spent 30 minutes re-writing a two sentence email, because you want maximum impact? 📧
You think you are not a perfectionist, because there is this one task that you are not starting and keep pushing away? Surely, a perfectionist would complete ALL their tasks? Not necessarily. There is such a thing as perfectionist procrastination. You basically don’t start a task because… well… you are afraid you won’t meet the high standards that you set for yourself.
As you might have guessed, yes, I know you. I know you too well. Not because I read a book about how perfectionists tick (I did, though). No, I have a deep, intimate and personal relationship with your kind.
Because I am one of you. I would say I am a recovering perfectionist. Recovering, because perfectionism is hard to cure and I don’t want to cure all of it. This drive for excellence has served me well and there is motivation in this.
But it's possible to manage the downsides a bit better. The parts that put unnecessary pressure on you. The parts that sometimes block you.
So, my dear fellow perfectionist: are you ready to find out where your perfectionist tendencies come from and how to balance them?
I invite you to embrace your perfectionism and explore with me how coaching can help you be a more balanced perfectionist.
